The Ballardong Noongar people have been working with SharingStories Foundation in collaboration with Community Arts Network to develop a series of educational resources since 2024.

The 'Welcome to Balardong' series is a collection of stop-motion animations developed on Country with Community Arts Network (CAN) and the Ballardong Noongar Elders and Custodians who shared their stories, cultural knowledge, and history from their community.

This partnership has produced classroom resources aligned with the Australian Curriculum, supporting teachers in embedding First Nations perspectives into their lessons. The resources include unit plans, activity sheets, and protocol guides, all co-developed with Ballardong Noongar Custodians.

The educational resources, designed for use across various year levels, will be found on Jajoo Warrngara: The Culture Classroom, helping educators bring Ballardong Noongar perspectives into classrooms across Australia.

At the heart of Jajoo Warrngara are the communities that lead the work on Country. We would like to acknowledge the Ballardong Noongar Elders and Custodians who proudly share their stories and pay our respects to the Elders past and present. SharingStories thanks the Ballardong Noongar Traditional Custodians and Elders:

• Aunty Merle Narkle Goodwin (Elder/Storyteller)
• Aunty Audrey Nettle (Elder/Storyteller)
• Aunty Lois Ralph (Elder/Storyteller)
• Aunty Gail Hill (Elder/Storyteller)
• Karlee Parnham (Custodian/Storyteller)
• Jayde Bateman (Custodian/Storyteller)
• Kadeena Ryan (Custodian/Storyteller)

We would also like to acknowledge Whadjuk Noongar Elder Uncle Graham Nettle (deceased), who was a major contributor to the stories shared, and pay our respects to all Elders past and present.

Special thanks to Community Arts Network (CAN) for producing the animations in this series.
