Jajoo Warrngara: 2025
In early 2025, SharingStories Foundation travelled to Dunghutti Country on the NSW coast to deliver a multi-stage project in partnership with Macleay Vocational College (MVC) and Dunghutti Elders and Custodians. The project supported students to build digital media skills and creative confidence, while also collaborating with Elders to produce five new films and a suite of culturally aligned educational resources for Jajoo Warrngara: The Culture Classroom.
The MVC students participated in hands-on workshops focused on iPad filming, audio recording, storyboarding and editing. Dunghutti and Bundjalung photographer Kris Cook joined the project to mentor students and work alongside Harmony Domaille and Cian Sanders.
6 professional films were produced with the Dunghutti Elders, and two animations as part of the student led project. The stories explore themes such as connection to Country, resilience, history of Kempsey, scary stories around the campfire, and life on the mission. These films, alongside the educational resources, are available to educators across the country on the Jajoo Warrngara educational platform.
