As Elders pass away, many take with them the language and the precious knowledge of their country and culture that teaches younger generations how to live in a sustainable relationship with respect to the earth and each other.
This week at SharingStories Jennifer Milgin started as the new Nyikina Language Worker, learning from her Grandmother, Annie Nayina Milgin.
Jennifer is learning important language connected to the Malaji trees. Malaji trees have special spirits which hold powers. Some of the Malaji trees can feed or heal you. Malaji are connected to all nature around them and are an integral part of life on Nyikina Country.
We’re so delighted to welcome Jennifer to the Nyikina language work team.
Thank you to the Nyikina Community for all your work.
