Behind the Scenes Video of Thirringgenji doo Joowijgarneny: The Owlet Nightjar and The Bowerbird
Coming in 2024, this film is the creative interpretation of an important Ngarranggarnim (Dreaming) story. Thirringgenji doo Joowijgarneny is a Gija story from Jarlaloon in Gija Country. In 2022, SharingStories Foundation partnered with Purnululu Aboriginal Independent Community School in the remote community of Woorreranginy (Frog Hollow), in Western Australia on the creative project.
Shared by Senior Gija Custodian, Patrick Mung Mung, Thirringgenji doo Joowijgarneny: The Owlet Nightjar and The Bowerbird is the story of two birds when they were both men in the Dreamtime. The Owlet Nightjar was an important senior lawman, responsible for making spearheads. The story teaches us about ecosystems, habitats, and co-existence.
